Audio Analysis Basics

Prerequisites:

  1. Read the tutorial on syncing a slider to a data-source.

The project file created for this tutorial can be downloaded here.

Step 1: Click the ♺ to start analyzing audio inputs. Adjust the gain slider if your levels are too high or too low.

If needed change the audio interface from the devices menu.

Tip: Some audio interfaces, including the built-in microphone, have their own gain sensitivity level control that can be set in the System Preferences under Sound, or on the physical device itself.

Step 2: Click and drag on filters to change their frequency center and range.

  • Drag left and right to change center frequency.
  • Drag up and down to change the width of the filter.
  • Use the inspector to add, remove, rename and customize  the settings for individual filters.

Step 3: Each filter is a data-source that can be used by sliders, buttons, and other UI items to make them audio reactive.
